Casa Axis: Where Tennis Becomes a Canvas for Creativity
On 13 and 14 June, the Casa Axis International Open brought together a community of artists in Valencia, Spain, around an extraordinary new playground. Supported by Lacoste, the inaugural event took place at Casa Axis, the creative residency founded by Felipe Pantone, where tennis, art and design came together in a celebration of René Lacoste's legacy of creativity and innovation.
Tennis as a Creative Language
On a court designed by artist and designer MRKA, the Casa Axis International Open brought together 32 artists for a tournament unlike any other. Created as a meeting point between sport and creativity, the event turned tennis into a shared language, uniting different artistic disciplines through a single playful experience.
The winner earned the opportunity to create the next Casa Axis court design, extending the project’s experimental spirit. An approach that echoes the vision of René Lacoste, the brand’s founder, player and inventor, who always brought together sport, audacity and innovation.
Lacoste: A Legacy of Creativity
With The Art of Play, the conversation between tennis and creativity continued through an exhibition that brought together game-inspired works—including a piece by David Hockney—alongside a curated selection of Lacoste Heritage archives from Troyes, France. From graphic artwork to pioneering innovations and iconic pieces by René Lacoste, the Maison explored the enduring dialogue between sport, design and artistic expression that has shaped the brand since its beginnings.
At the Lacoste pop-up, polo shirts, bucket hats and other signature pieces were personalized with exclusive Casa Axis patches and on-site embroidery. A final expression of the event's creative spirit, where heritage, innovation and contemporary culture came to life through the wardrobe.
